What makes a beef plant different from a chicken plant? Other than the obvious,
material handling makes it different. It’s hard to get a whole steer
into a 22-inch long box. It’s harder to handle all the mass of that steer
inside an operation efficiently, process it quickly, and get it out to retailers
and importers efficiently.
This ACTIV application is installed in a new warehouse facility. With 25,000+
positions, it is the world’s largest ACTIV System. A corporate Warehouse
Management System (WMS) manages the entire operating warehouse environment.
Washington Beef, Inc., a beef processing/fabrication facility located in
the Northwest, needed to relocate and expand its material handling system
from a single line scale/labeling operation to an expanded dual line scaling/labeling
operation. The system feeds a new palletizing sortation mezzanine located
in the storage cooler.
This Fortune 50 client required a manufacturing shipping buffer that would
enable the company to ensure accurate, on-time orders, sequenced loading
for multi-drop direct-store-delivery, and support of pick-to-belt operations.
